Beavers Cubs Scouts

Volunteer

Scouting in Melksham is only possible because of a dedicated team of Adult volunteers. But for Scouting to continue to offer opportunities to the young people of Melksham, we need more adults to join our team.

If you are interested in getting involved, we will find a role to suit you… whether you want to volunteer for a couple of hours a week, a couple of hours a month, or a couple of hours a year! Whether you want to work directly with young people or help out behind the scenes. Some of the roles we currently have available are listed below, but if none of these roles are quite what you’re looking for please do get in touch for a chat about how you could fit into the team! You’re welcome to come in for a (free, no obligation!) cup of coffee and a chat with our Group Scout Leader about how you could get involved!

Is it for Me?

We often get told “I wish I could volunteer for Scouting, but I’m not like Bear Grylls”. The answer we always give is “neither are the rest of the leaders”. Sure, most of us love the great outdoors, but it isn’t a pre-requisite.

We also get told “I can’t volunteer, I have a job”. To give an idea of the sort of people who volunteer for us, here are some of the jobs that our leaders and supporters do (without names of course)

  • University Students / Sixth Form College Students
  • Self employed web designers / IT consultants
